Starting with a fairly rough mk4 (also joined by a TVR and an X type) theyve had for years. Reading through the material they had about the swap and i can already tell its going to be a slightly bodgy set up.
To avoid upgrading injectors and an ECU upgrade he plans to install injectors into the inlet manifold with an external controller to supply enough fuel. Itll probably work and has obviously been done many times before but itll be far from optimal.
The car needs a hell of a lot more work just to get it roadworthy and looking reasonable, but he decided to go straight for the turbo. Turbo is a decent one i believe but is huge and with the poor tune will probably be super laggy. The manifold had stalactites of weld inside that need removing and doesnt have enough bracing to handle the load of the turbo so will probably crack. Guna have to get some SR20s for you guys shortly, i do have a photo of the supra in question knocking about somewhere.

The owner a year from now:
Seriously, for something like this, either do it properly or don’t do it at all.

Fully agree, but as you can see by the state of the thing, they don’t learn lessons.

Throw a turbo on that TVR!

This is not going to end well.

Eh that manifold doesn’t look too bad as long as you keep it to one atm of boost and use a bpv I’m sure it’d be fine.
Now no engine retune and adding a turbo make no sense together, that thing will never run right.
Like a train wreck should be fun to watch though

Na that’s all the stock stuff, the manifold in question is an eBay special. He plans to tune the stock ecu but using stock injectors with two extra injectors in the intake manifold which will as you say, never truly run right.

Haha that would be more fun. The poor TVR needs a lot of work though. Interior flooded and hasn’t ran in a long time.

Oh, that’s a shame. It’s an S Series, right?

Yeah its an s2 I believe.

So if the TVR is trash, can I have it please?!

It somehow seems an easier project to restore it than to turbo the Supra.

Yeah i agree, im not sure what hes doing with it though. He talked about selling it as is, it may already have been sold.

Unfortunately i dont think hed go for that...

Ah, the eBay special just wrap it in gaffer tape, then it’ll be fiiiiiine haha.
How is he controlling the secondary injectors, another eBay kit?

I have no idea and to be honest i dont think he does. I told him to get hold of some bigger injectors and get a second hand greddy e manage or something, so its a lot less botched.

Or find an OEM turbo ecu or a megasquirt ecu might be even cheaper but need lots of wiring loom modifications

I wouldnt encourage him to mess about with wiring to be honest but the stock turbo ecu could work but i imagine theyre getting hard to find.

Yeah and they're likely not cheap either, but it would run properly at least until the manifold springs a leak haha
